Broken MacBook Air Hinge

The hinges on the first generation MacBook Air are prone to breaking. When the hinges snap the upper section separates from the computer body and is only held together by the display cable. This cable can become severed quite easily resulting in distorted or loss of video.

MyService now has a hinge replacement service for the first generation through mid 2010 13″ MacBook Air. This service includes roundtrip shipping, two new improved hinges and the display cable.

This service is available for $349 and is usually completed within 24hrs of arrival at MyService.

Note: Apple does have a “recall” in place that may replace the entire upper section at no cost. This recall is only for certain MacBook Airs. Apple or an Authorized Service Provider like MyService can check by serial number to see if your MacBook Air qualifies. Checkout our previous post on this issue for more details.
